When major emergencies or disaster strike, employers can facilitate employees making individual donations through the American Red Cross via payroll deduction. Those contributions can then be sent directly to American Red Cross by the employer. Employers also may choose to make a corporate match.
In developing guidelines for disaster relief, employers may specify support for national and or/international disaster support, a business response for customers in the affected area, and/or additional resources they may offer to their employees impacted by the event.
